Sift

Choose the sources, topics and noise level. Sift applies your rules locally in this browser.

1

Choose where posts come from

X supplies candidate posts. Sift then hides posts that do not pass your rules below.

Create or find an X List. A focused List gives Sift better candidates. Sift cannot fetch posts or accounts that X did not load.

2

Choose what belongs

Add one topic or phrase per line. A post can match any one of them.

3

Remove the noise

These rules are applied before posts appear in your feed.

4

Control individual accounts

Use account exceptions when topic rules are not enough.

5

Choose how X looks

These controls simplify X without changing your content rules.

6

Back up, share, or move your setup

Your rules sync with your Chrome account automatically. Export a file to keep a backup or hand a friend your exact feed.

Counting filtered posts… Counted on this device only. Nothing is reported anywhere.
7

If the feed looks wrong

Sift only filters posts X already loaded. It never fetches extra posts or moves your scroll position.

Nothing filtered? Reload Sift on chrome://extensions, then refresh the X tab and confirm the version is current. If Sift can’t see or read posts for a few seconds, it shows a banner on the feed so you know X changed something. Empty feed? Improve your X List before loosening topics — Following is often too broad and is now algorithmically sorted. Show more / Show less and Brief only appear on the filtered feed, and Brief only summarizes posts loaded in this tab.
